Culinarium — Privacy Policy

Culinarium ("the app") is a recipe management app developed by an independent developer. This page explains what data the app collects, why, and how you can delete it.

1. Data we collect

When you sign in with Google:

• Your email address, display name, and profile picture (as provided by Google Sign-In) — used to create and identify your account.

To make the app work:

• A push-notification token (Firebase Cloud Messaging), so the app can notify you about friend requests, shared recipes, and shopping-list activity.
• Your app language preference — used to send push notifications in the right language.
• A short invite code, used to add friends inside the app. It does not reveal your email or any account details.

Content you create:

• Recipes you add are stored primarily on your own device. If you share a recipe with a friend, a copy is stored on our server until your friend opens and saves it.
• Recipe links: when you share a recipe as a link (culinariumapp.com/r/…), a copy of the recipe is stored on our server and linked to your account. See section 2 for details.
• Shared shopping lists: item names/quantities you add, and who added or checked them off, are visible to everyone in that shared list.
• Friend connections: if you and another user add each other as friends, your display name and email become visible to each other inside the app.

Crash and stability data:

• We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports (device model, OS version, app version, and stack traces) if the app crashes. This does not include your recipes or personal messages.

Google Drive backup (optional):

• If you choose to back up your recipes to Google Drive, the app requests the restricted drive.file permission scope — it can only see and manage files the app itself created, never your other Drive files.

We do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

2. Recipe links and the Culinarium app in ChatGPT

Recipe links. When you share a recipe from the app while signed in, it is shared as a link such as https://culinariumapp.com/r/7KQ3MXPA. To make the link work, we store a copy of the recipe on our server:

• Only the recipe itself is stored: title, description, servings, times, calories, ingredients, steps, categories, tags, source URL, and photo URL if the photo comes from a website. Your personal notes, favorites, and photos stored on your device are never sent.
• Anyone who has the link can view the recipe on a web page and add it to their own Culinarium app. The page does not show who shared it, and it asks search engines not to index it.
• Links do not expire. They are deleted together with your account (see section 4).
• We count how many times each link was opened and imported into the app. These counts do not include any information about the people who opened the link.

If you are not signed in, the app shares a recipe file instead, and nothing is uploaded to our server.

Culinarium in ChatGPT. If you connect the Culinarium app in ChatGPT and ask it to save a recipe, ChatGPT sends us that recipe (the same fields as above), and we create a recipe link for it:

• We receive only the recipe ChatGPT passes to the "save recipe" action. We do not receive your conversations, ChatGPT memories, or your ChatGPT account details.
• These links are not tied to any Culinarium account, so they work like the recipe links above but cannot be deleted from the app. To have one deleted, email us the link at [email protected].
• How ChatGPT itself handles your data is governed by OpenAI's privacy policy.

3. Where your data is stored

Recipes, meal plans, and app settings live primarily on your own device. Account data, friend connections, shared recipes, recipe links, and shared shopping lists are stored on our server, hosted on a private server we operate, and transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS/WSS) connection.

Our websites (culinariumapp.com) and server are served through Cloudflare. Like most web services, Cloudflare and our server process technical request data, such as IP addresses and browser type, to deliver pages and protect against abuse.

4. How to delete your account and data

You can permanently delete your account and all associated server-side data (friends, shared recipes, recipe links you created, shopping lists you own, account info) at any time from inside the app:

Open the app → menu (top-right) → "Delete account"

If you no longer have the app installed and cannot use the in-app option, you can request deletion by emailing us at [email protected] from the email address associated with your account. We will delete your account and data within 30 days.

Recipes you saved locally on a device are not affected by server-side account deletion — you can delete the app itself to remove those.

5. Children's privacy

Culinarium is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly.
